After the success of Sacred Spirit, Higher Octave delivers more of the same with Sacred Spirit, Vol. 5: More Chants and Dances of the Native Americans. As with the first volume, this collection presents spare, hypnotic Native American chants augmented with electronic beats, keyboards, and other modern instruments. The mix of these elements is particularly potent on "Looking Far North," which contrasts a rolling melody with female vocals and a sparser, more rhythmic part chanted by a male vocalist, and on "May You Walk in Sunshine," a mix of flutes, strings, and sung and chanted vocals. While Sacred Spirit, Vol. 3 doesn't offer the purest incarnation of Native American music, it is a pleasant and occasionally unique update on these ancient sounds.

Sacred Spirit is a series of new age albums whose initial volume was a blockbuster success, spawning the international smash hit single "Yeha-noha (Wishes of Happiness and Prosperity)" in 1995. Comprised of traditional Native American chants and ambient electronica, the initial volume in the series, Sacred Spirit 1: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans, was released on Virgin Records in 1995 and nominated for a Best New Age Album Grammy that same year. The album spawned the international smash hit "Yeha-noha (Wishes of Happiness and Prosperity)," which topped the singles charts in numerous countries, including Germany and France. The second volume, variously titled Sacred Spirit, Vol. 3: Culture Clash (1997) and Indigo Spirit (2000), was comprised of African-American spirituals, ambient electronica, and cello. The third volume, variously titled Indians' Sacred Spirit: More Chants and Dances of the Native Americans (2000) and Sacred Spirit, Vol. 5: More Chants and Dances of the Native Americans (2000), reprises the Native American theme of the original volume. Successive volumes include Moroccan Spirit (2002), Classical Spirit (2003), Sacred Spirit, Vol. 8: Jazzy Chill Out (2003), and Sacred Spirit, Vol. 9: Bluesy Chill Out (2003), all of which were released on the Higher Octane label. The Sacred Spirit series is produced by the Fearsome Brave (aka the Brave), a moniker of Claus Zundel, a German residing in Ibiza. In addition to Sacred Spirit, Zundel's production credits include the B-Tribe of series of albums: Fiesta Fatal! (1993), Suave Suave (1995), Sensual Sensual (1998), Spiritual Spiritual (2001), 5 (2003), and B-Tribe, Vol. 6 (2008).
